In the CAV 3U1 contact-breaker assembly, the fixed point is live and
mounted on a block insulated from the back-plate. The moving point is
earthed and mounted on the end of a spring blade. The points are opened
by the U-shaped cam forcing a roller to wedge between the blade of the
moving point and the fixed-point mounting-block. The example shown is
a clockwise magneto (as viewed at the drive-shaft end). |
