Universal EasyCap for Lucas SR1
 |
|
The Universal EasyCap can be mounted in a number of places in the Lucas
SR1 rotating-magnet magneto. In this example, it will be mounted on the
screw that can also serve as the cut-out terminal. The circuit board
is cut and drilled as shown in the first two photos.
On the capacitor side of the board, the edge shown in the first photo
should be chamfered so that the copper layer cannot touch the housing of
the SR1. |

The position of the hole is important. Too close to the capacitor, and
the electrical connections will foul the capacitor. Too far from the
capacitor, and the circuit board will foul the magneto housing. On the
underside, the hole should be countersunk so that the copper layer
cannot touch the mounting screw.

In this photo, the Easycap is shown in its place in the housing, with
the underside of the EasyCap in electrical contact with the magneto
housing. The mounting screw will go, from the outside, through:
- the nylon insulator
- the magneto body
- the EasyCap
- the two tags on the wires from the coil and to the contact breaker
- the washer and
- the nut
so that the top side of the EasyCap is in electrical contact with the
two wires and with the screw.
